She served two terms as Mayor of the Village of Sun La. From June 2003 to June 2011. At the end of her term she was awarded Resolution #21 by State Senator Ben Nevers, recognizing her accomplishments while in office. She not only did a great job as Mayor but, she was a amazing wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, cousin and friend. The material things of this world didn't matter much to her; Her treasure was the love she shared with others. Wife of Willard T. Gibson, Mother of Shelly Cushing (AJ), Stacy Brown (Patrick), Richard Murray (Julie), Robert Murray, Rebecca Murray Watts, Regina Jordan Burns, Sherry Lee Martin (David), Grandmother to 13 Grandchildren and 9 Great-grandchildren. She was also survived by her brothers Joe Stroud, Bill Stroud, and her sister Debbie Lancaster, Daughter of the late Joseph Daniel Stroud and Emma May Stroud.
Family would like to thank the Village of Sun for their love and support and the people that prayed faithfully for Barbara. It made such a huge impact on the family as a whole.
