Mr. Winford Eugene Pittman's Obituary
Winford Eugene Pittman, age 70, went to be with the Lord on December 27, 2024. Win spent his last years in his ancestral home with his beloved wife, Judy, in the Oak Grove Community. Win grew up in the shadow of Sheridan Firetower, where his father worked as a watchman for forest fires. After graduating from Pine High School in 1973, he joined the United States Army Reserve where he spent the next 15 years with Unit 688. He also worked for many years as a mechanic for farm tractors and heavy equipment in Louisiana and Mississippi. Win along with his wife, sister, and several members of the community, spent many years fighting to preserve their land grant homestead, and the homes of many in their community from being destroyed by a proposed reservoir project, and succeeded. Win was a great storyteller and loved to tell stories from the “ole days” of hunting and playing football to anyone who would listen. He loved his family and adored his grandchildren. He gave a nickname to each one.
Win is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years Judy Fincher Pittman and their 4 children: Windy (Keith) Toney, Wayne (Crystal) Pittman, Tera (Darren) Taylor, and Caylon Pittman. Also 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Sister, Jalon (Carl) Beech.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Nevels Winford Pittman and Betty Schilling Pittman.
A memorial service will be held on January 11, 2025, at 11AM at Enon Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Brown-McGehee Funeral Home was entrusted with final arrangements.
