Mrs. Verena Mae Mizell Bennett's Obituary
Verena Mae Mizell Bennett of Bogalusa, LA, went to be with her Lord and Savior late Tuesday evening, October 14, 2025 in the home of her daughter Regina Hunt.
Mrs. Bennett grew up in Sun, LA surrounded by her large loving family. The hunting family called themselves the Fearsome Foursome. The many children, nieces, and nephews were placed around the family property each wearing their own color of knitted hats to be able to identify the children from a distance. These hats were knitted by their Aunt Sylvia Mizell. The meat harvested was used to feed the large family and made memories for a lifetime. Verena Mae loved to cook for her family and friends which always drew a large crowd. She went on to work and retire from Charity Hospital in Bogalusa, LA. She was married to her late, devoted husband, Jackson "Jackie" Carter Bennett for over sixty-eight years. They shared a lifetime of memories traveling, riding horses, riding motorcycles, and raising their children. She longed for the time she would be reunited with her beloved Jackie in their heavenly home.
Verena is survived by her two loving children: Mark W. Bennett and wife, Tracy Bennett of Poplarville, MS, and Regina Hunt and husband, Steve Hunt of Bogalusa, LA. She had 4 grandchildren: Duke Bennett, Dusty Bennett, Molly Reid, and Mikata Reid and two step grandsons. Verena also had eight great granddaughters, 3 great grandsons, one great great granddaughter, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of dear friends.
