Sarah Ruby Alford's Obituary
Alford, Ruby
"Charm is deceitful, beauty is vain, but a woman who fears God shall be praised," Proverbs 31:30. On Saturday, September 22, 2012, our precious mother went home to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born in Sunny Hill, Louisiana on September 28, 1933. She enjoyed doing many things and all of them well. She grew up loving sports, saying she would rather play sports than eat. She was a great athlete, cook, gardener, nurturer, seamstress, loved to do arts and crafts, knew how to make a house a loving home, but most important she was a great example of how Christ wants us to live. She was a breast cancer survivor of 23 years, diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in June of 2012, never complaining and always giving praise to God. She is survived by her children; Linda and Ronnie Johnson, Lynn and Lorey Alford, Van Alford, Evelyn and Ed Smith, and Nathan Alford; eight grandchildren, Susan Johnson, Kyle Johnson, Eddie Alford, Joshua Alford, Derek and Kelli Smith, Danielle and Aaron Nasers, Jonathan Alford, and Justin Alford; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Holiday, Whitney Johnson, and Claudia Johnson; and a great-granddaughter, Addison Claire Smith, due October 19. We were so blessed to have her as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Brewster Van (B.V.) Alford, Jr. Pallbearers are Kyle Johnson, Aaron Nasers, Jonathan Alford and Tyler Holiday. Honorary pallbearers are Derek Smith, Justin Alford, Eddie Alford, and Joshua Alford.
Visitation at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home, Avenue F in Bogalusa, on Tues., September 25 from 6:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Wed., from 11:00 am until service at 1:00 a.m. Services conducted by Reverend Marcus Rosa and Reverend David Pigott.
