Ruby Jean-Sharp Evans' Obituary
Ruby Jean Sharp Evans
Went to meet her King Jesus and be in Heaven on 01/13/2013 at the age of 79. Born August 10, 1933 in Isabel, Louisiana. She got married at the age of 19 to Charles Willard Evans. She has celebrated 20-years of marriage before the loss of her loving husband. She was a loving mother of 3-beautiful children-Deborah, Linda and Charlie. She was brought up during the Great Depression. She had to walk 2-miles just to catch the school bus and many times with no shoes on. She spent many hours working the family garden-picking cotton and vegetables. Sometimes her and her siblings only had a biscuit or a cold sweet potatoe to eat before hitting the fields to work after coming in from school. She played Basketball for Enon High School from 1948 till 1951. After graduating from High School, she got her first job working for South Central Bell in New Orleans as a switch board operator between 1950 and 1953. She also taught cake decorating and quilting at the YWCA in Bogalusa. She would work in the concession stand for the roller skating nights at American Academy School. She served on the Board of Mt. Pleasant Christian Academy and worked many functions for the school from the early 70's to 1984. Ruby and her two sisters made a quilt for Greg Genco that was entered into the Washington Parish Fair that took home an award winning ribbon. She also worked for Bogalusa Glass. And she was a faithful Employee to Lee's Creek Farm And Ranch Supply during the early 1980's. She also worked at Wal-Mart in the Deli from the late 1980's till 2002 when she retired. Ruby was a Christian woman who spent the majority part of her life serving the Lord. She loved the Lord with all her heart. I can remember hearing her talk about just how excited she would be to get to Heaven and meet God. Us kids could not ask for a better mom. She was very loving, kind and considerate of others.
