Richard D.W. Carter's Obituary
Richard D. W. Carter, 80, a native of Delco, N.C., passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at his residence in Angie after battling cancer. He served in the U.S. Army for four years. He was also a retired master captain on offshore supply boats having served for many years. He was a member of Calvary Christian Fellowship Church for 11 years and a loving husband, father and dear friend to those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn J. Roussell Carter of Angie; one son, Kerry C. Carter of Wiggins, Miss.; two daughters, Sylvia Ann Marie Carroll of Angie and Leslie E. McLaurin of Hattiesburg, Miss.; three sisters: Margaret Reaves of Wilmington, N.C., Evelyn Virginia Allen of Delco and Lillian ‘Helen’ Grace Willis of Wilmington; six grandchildren, 16 nieces and 17 nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Carter and Carrie Lou Holloway; one brother, Luther Clyde Carter; and two sisters, Pauline Carter Livesay and Katie Bell Carter Hinson.
Visitation was held Thursday, April 7 at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home fomr 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and continued on Friday at Calvary Christian Fellowship Church, 1240 Avenue F, Bogalusa, from 11 a.m. until time for the funeral at 1 p.m., with Rev. Larry Lassley officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Poplarville City Cemetery, 200 N. Jackson St., Poplarville, Miss.
