Ralph Lee Simmons' Obituary
RALPH LEE SIMMONS, 78, passed away July 14, 2015 at Our Lady of the Angels hospital in Bogalusa.
Ralph was born on August 24, 1936 to the late Milton Leslie "Les" and Myrtis Lee Simmons of Tylertown, Mississippi. He married his sweet heart, Helen Sue Rowley on November 8, 1957. Sadly, after 56 years of marriage, she preceded him in death.
For 40 years Ralph's working career was a "parts man" for the General Motors dealerships in Bogalusa. The little red headed man behind the counter not only found the part you needed, but was ready to tell you about his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and ready to help anybody in need. He was humble and loving and ready with a firm hand shake and a "hey now" for everyone he met.
He is survived by his children, Sharon (Paul) Stevens of Bogalusa, Karen (Craig) Bennett of Folsom, and Darren Simmons of Bogalusa; grandchildren, Steven Smith, Jessica Stevens, Eric Stevens, Ralph Stevens, Matthew Bennett and Kattie Bennett; and great grandchildren; Garret Simmons, Lawson Smith, Ella Stevens, Savannah Stevens, Brooklyn Stevens, and Mackinzie Stevens.
He is also survived by his brothers Ray and Elvin Graves and his sister Ethel Brown and many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Melvin Graves and Wyman Graves, two sisters Ina Mae Holmes and Helen Evans, and his brother- in-law and best friend William "Billy" Evans.
His family would like to thank Resthaven Living Center for the wonderful care they gave him and the sweet friends the staff became to Mr. Ralph.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services at Brown McGehee Funeral Home, located on 610 Avenue F in Bogalusa on Saturday July 18 at 11:00am. Visitation will begin at 9 am. The Rev. Walter Pierce will officiate.
Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Garden.
