Mrs. Polly Elizabeth McClendon's Obituary
Polly Elizabeth McClendon, passed away Friday, January 5, 2024, at the age of 79. She was a native of
Varnado, LA and a life-long resident of Bogalusa, LA.
Polly always worked in the retail industry in Bogalusa including Main Street Grocery, Piggly Wiggly and
as one of the first employees of WalMart when it opened in town and where she eventually retired in
2009.
Polly is survived by her brother Ernest (Eleanor) McClendon of Lumberton, MS. Although she had no
biological children of her own, she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews that loved her as a
mother.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lat McNeese; parents, Zelmer and Bertie McClendon; nephew,
David Ernest McClendon; niece, Wendy McClendon Powell; brothers, David O. McClendon and Theodore
McClendon; sisters, Avis Robbins and Katherine Miller.
Pallbearers: David “DJ” McClendon, Bradley Baker, Stosch Powell, Colby Powell, Alex Mizell, Tristin
Mayfield, Austin Mayfield and Michael “Mikey” Knight.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to Brown-McGehee for visitation Thursday, January 11,
2024, 5 p.m.-9 p.m. and Friday, January 12, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. with funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with
interment at Rester Cemetery, Varnado, LA. Officiating will be Brother Patrick Magee.
