My best memory of Russell was playing hide & seek when we were children. Keith & Russell held my sister back so she couldn’t tag me & could run to base. I knew it wasn’t fair & that I should be it. Halfway through my count, I heard the others arguing their cases to our parents of who should really be “it”. I continued my count & when I reached the end, I called out the required “ready or not here I come”. Hilarity ensued as the argument was quickly rejected & everyone scattered. We laughed about that for ages. Precious moments like that is what life is about. Russell & I had reconnected & caught up with everything over the past few years & I’m so glad we did. Family is everything.

I will never forget the love we shared. You always told me that we were each others person. 7 yrs was a rocky road but up til the very end you and I shared a bond that no one will ever comprehend. I keep reading your letters and looking at all our pics and I can't believe you are not with us. Russ was the most driven person I've ever met. He could turn anything he touched into gold. He loved his boys more than anything in this world, he was a very giving soul. His favorite place to be was referring ( bc he said he always had final say). We recently traveled to NOLA and he danced to footloose something he told me he hadn't done since college. His boys esp Caden was his life. He was smart and excelled at anything he put his mind to. I can't even process that you are gone but you will never be forgotten. You keep me safe and I will keep you young. All of my heart . I love you V

My heart is so broken to hear the news of Russell's passing. I have fond memories of him from a young adult until he married, had children. He was was neighbor for several years. He will be truly missed by many who knew and loved him. My prayers go out to this family.

I am so sorry for your family and friends during this time of great loss. I had the pleasure of teaching Russell math at Franklinton High School and enjoyed having him in my classes. He and I had many deep conversations about education over the years and sports in general. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Lean on GOD.
