Memory of love and family are treasures to carry with you always. Hold on to your memories, and let them guide you during this time of sadness. You are in our thoughts, our hearts, and our prayers.
Love, Leroy and Anita Ledoux
Me and my cousins would go stay a week with Aunt Menola during the summer. We thought it was the coolest thing to help with her paper route. Then we would play house all day in the side apartment. She made our summers very memorable. She will be missed.
A great lady -aunt-friend- A lady who believe in giving and you pay it forward because she didn't want nothing in return . . She have because she enjoyed it. It was fun if she didn't give to you it meant she didnt see the need ..lol Hudson's is where she shopped for you if you didn't know that . She was alwZys looking and digging for a great deal and most of the time it was for someone else, But she had fun doing it . She taught me to sew and made me many outfits. Sent me to the Pentecostal camp ground when I was 12 and sent me with 6 new outfits that she sewed . Yes that would make any girl feel beautiful. She made me chocolate pies all the time. I never really learned to cook from it but it was fun trying . She gaveMe her flower pots to maintain but they didn't last because I didn't have a green thumb like her . One thing she taught me is you don't NEED NO MAN lol do it yourself . It might not be professional Looking But it got done . And she loved keeping her yard pretty. Her paper route gave her the opportunity to know a lot of people . And do many times while helping her delivery papers she was always looking for a way to help those customers if they were in need . She was tough as NAILS But she had a big HEART.
I was a new 19 year old convert when Sis. Menola opened her side apartment to me to rent. I lived there for a year and she not only was the world's best landlord but she truly was a friend and a mentor. I would come home from work and often times she would invite me over for supper. The apartment had a restroom but no shower so daily I would have to cut through her kitchen to the bathroom. That equated to daily 1 hour sit down, have a cup of coffee and talk session. I loved it and wouldn't trade that year for anything. The apartment was ample but the friendship was rich. She loved me and I knew it. I loved her and she knew it. I honestly couldn't cook much and she truly taught me how to cook many of the dishes that I still serve today. As a matter of fact when I got married she bought me some pots and pans that were stainless steel that I use to this day. We lived next door to her son and his wife who were just as precious to me as she was. Actually both her boys and their wives were. I can remember almost every detail of living there that year and the all the stories she shared with me. She helped establish my feet on a solid rock and for that I will eternally be grateful. Love you Sis. Menola with all my heart!
