Our families grew up together, the Irvines on Monroe, the Williamses on Jackson not quite back to back but close enough to know what true friendship meant, worshiping together at New Hope which became Monroe St. attending Terrace school. So sorry to hear of David's death. May the good memories help to get you through the difficult time now and ahead. Daisy, Ethel, Hap, Harbert, and Harlan, I have good memories of growing up near ya'll and remember all of you and Danny & David fondly. No one can take those treasured memories from us. Love, Sylvia
I remember many beautiful and funny things about Daddy. When I was little the first song I remember him teaching me was "I have Decided to Follow Jesus". The second was "Jesus Loves Me". :) When I was around Hannah's age, and bored once I made the mistake of telling him. :) He replied, "An idle mind is the devil's workshop. Go grab yourself a rake, and rake the field, you won't be bored then." (I made sure to tell Hannah from an early age never to tell paw paw she was bored. ;) ) But, mostly, his love, patience, and wisdom. He's in heaven celebrating now with his momma, daddy, and his brother, Danny, just like he said he would be almost 3 years ago when he was diagnosed with liver cancer the first time. And, I'm so glad he said that to me almost 3 years ago, not to live my life grieving, because he knew he was going to heaven, and would be up there celebrating, and would be waiting for us, when it's our time to come join him. :) What a blessing he was, and what joy to know that there is no cancer in heaven! Hannah said, "And if he falls down, he'll have a nice, fluffy cloud to cushion him." :)
David was one of my best friends.Iwill miss him.
