Mrs. Laura "Nell" Penton's Obituary
Laura “Nell” Penton, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026, at Lakeview Hospital (LCMC) in Covington, LA.
She is survived by her husband, James Rutland; one daughter: Kippy Summers (John Summers); a son: Robert P. Penton, Sr. (Robbie Ann Penton); a sister: Althea “Veda” Lewis; several cherished grandchildren: Tabitha Prater, April Kendall (Preston Kendall), Cheyenne Breeland (Drew Breeland), and Alexis Swing; her beloved great-grandchildren: Dakoda Stafford, Iris Stafford, Zeke Prater, Alivia Jean Kendall, Braelyn Kendall, Colton Kendall, Hadyn Breeland, Pacyn Breeland, and Waylon Breeland; and several nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Mrs. Nell was preceded in death by her parents: Chess and Gladys McNeese, her late husband: Robert E. Penton; one grandson: Robert P. Penton, Jr. “Patrick”; two sisters: Delores and Shirley; and four brothers: Billy, Michael, Bruce, and Chess “Peanut”.
She was a life-long florist for Pugh’s & Amy’s Flowers, which is where she retired from, but continued making arrangements for family and friends. She is loved by many and will be greatly missed, but our memories we will cherish a lifetime.
Brown-McGehee Funeral Home was entrusted with final arrangements. Thursday, April 23, 2026, a memorial visitation will start at 11AM until time for a memorial service at 3PM.
