Joseph W.Sumrall Sr. a native of Washington Parish ,born February 6,1931 passed away September 24 2011 at his residence In Poplarville MS. at the age of 80. Joseph was deeply involved in geneaology research around several Parishes and Counties. He was a member of the Geneaological Association and published books about his research. He also served in the United States Air Force as Tech Seargeant for 22 years career service and a member of the American Legion.
Joseph was survived by two sons Joseph W. Sumrall jr.of Mt. Vernon, Washington, Howard Louis Sumrall of New York City, two brothers Melvin Sumrall of Franklinton and Hollis Sumrall of Bogalusa, three sisters Betty Jo Quave of Houma, Mavis Hall of Bogalusa and Imogen Bryant of Shreveport and 2 Grandchildren and host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Louis Isaac and Bessie Emily Sumrall and a daughter Dana Lee Sumrall.
Joseph was a member of Superior Avenue Baptist Chuch and a current member of Bethel Baptist Church in Mississippi.
Services will be held on Wednesday September 28,2011 at Bethel Baptist Church in Mississippi at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Floyd Young conducting the services. The Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Bogalusa.
Visitation will be held Tuesday September 27 2011 at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home chapel starting at 5:00 P.M. untill 9:00 P.M. and continue after 9:00 A.M. until service time at the church at 11:00 A.M. Family and friends may view and sign the online guestbook at www.brownmcgehee.com
