John David Pittman, Sr.'s Obituary
John David Pittman Sr. age 88 passed away Jan. 5, 2013 at his residence here in Bogalusa La. He was a member of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church. He was a past member of the Zona Masonic Lodge and Center Lodge . He also served his country durning WWII as a medic in the U.S. Army. Durning WWII he was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart serving under General George Patton. He was also selected as a personal bodyguard for General Dwight David Eisenhower.
He is survived by his sons John David Pittman Jr. "Sherry" and Thomas Densil Pittman "Vicki" both of Bogalusa. Daughters Sylvia Joyce Pittman Sewell of Panama City Fla. Sherion Pittman Busby "John Wayne" of Bogalusa, Martha Ann Pittman Ledbetter "Donald" of Bogalusa. Fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife Opal Sheridan Pittman, parents John M and Martha C Pittman, sisters Bernice Foster, Lenell Thomas, and Marion Maxson. Grandsons Shannon Wayne Busby and John Ernest Busby.
Visitation will be held in the chapel of Brown-McGehee Funeral Home on Monday Jan. 7, 2013 from 5:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will continue Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time for services in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Emmanuel Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by magic City Post #24 of the American Legion.
Rev. Pete Underwood, Rev. Everett Ledbetter and Rev. Tommy Pittman Jr, will officiate.
