Janet Sue Brown's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Janet Sue Blackwell Brown, who departed this life on June 11, 2026, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the age of 68. Born on December 10, 1957, in Bogalusa, Louisiana, Sue was a beacon of love and joy to all who knew her.
Sue was the cherished daughter of the late Ellis and Pearl Davis Blackwell, who instilled in her the values of kindness, resilience, and the importance of family. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Duryal Allen Johnson, whose memory she treasured dearly.
Sue leaves behind a loving family who will continue to celebrate her life and legacy: her devoted husband of 20 years, David Brown; her son, Joseph Johnson, and his wife Benetha; her daughter, Kathy Glover; and her brother, Kenneth Blackwell, and his wife Barbara. She was the proud grandmother to seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, whose lives she enriched with her boundless love and wisdom. Sue also leaves behind a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and special friends who were like family to her.
Sue's career as a cook in local restaurants was more than just a job; it was a testament to her passion for bringing people together through food. Her culinary skills were legendary among family and friends, and her kitchen was always open to anyone in need of a warm meal and a loving conversation.
Beyond her professional life, Sue found joy in the simple pleasures that life offered. She loved cooking for her family and friends, ensuring that every meal was a celebration of love and togetherness. Her frequent trips to Wal-Mart were not just errands but opportunities for adventure and discovery. An avid fisherwoman, Sue found peace and happiness in the tranquil moments by the water, casting her line and reflecting on life's blessings. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her grandchildren, showering them with affection and ensuring they were thoroughly spoiled with love and attention.
A private ceremony will be held in honor of Sue's life, reflecting her family's wish to celebrate her in an intimate setting. During this difficult time, the family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of The Lady of The Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge for their compassionate care and support.
Sue's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and friendship. Though she may have departed from this world, her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her legacy will continue to inspire and guide her family, and her memory will be cherished for generations to come.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Brown-McGehee Funeral Home in Bogalusa.
