Mr James Sydney Stewart's Obituary
James “Jim” Sidney Stewart born on April 14, 1935, in Bogalusa, LA. Former resident of Bogalusa and Hammond, LA. Graduate of Bogalusa High School.
James is survived by his wife of 51 years Chung T. Stewart of Hammond, LA. One daughter Sheryl Slaven and her husband Scott from Hammond, LA. One son Marty Stewart from Hammond, LA. Three grandsons Josh Slaven, Gunner Slaven and Brock Stewart. One granddaughter Hunter Stewart. Two Brothers Haspel Stewart and his wife Margie from Wilmer, LA. and Robert Stewart and his wife Larisa from Bogalusa, LA. One sister Peggy Stewart from Bogalusa, LA., and Ann Downey from San Francisco, CA. Cousin and best friend Joby Willis from Bogalusa, LA. Four nieces Debra Stewart Purvis, Kimberly Stewart, Amy Stewart and Melissa Stewart. Two nephews Bryan Stewart and Scott Stewart.
James is Preceded in death by his Parents James Saville Stewart, Sr. and Ruby Louis Henley. One brother James Saville Stewart, Jr. and Grandparents Martin Stewart and Mittie Mitchell Stewart.
Proudly served in the United States Navy and retired in 1974 with over 20 years of service. After traveling all over the world, he settled down in Hammond, LA., where he raised his family while attending Southeastern Louisiana University. After his navy career, Jim retired from the restaurant business which included owning his own pizza restaurant, Pizza Place. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially all of his grandchildren and his dog Mei-Li, all of who he adored.
