Ione Frances Neely's Obituary
Ione Donovan Neely, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully departed this world on June 13, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on October 1, 1938, in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Ione was a beacon of warmth and kindness, whose life was a testament to love, family, and enduring faith.
Ione was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas and Rita Rein Donovan. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 48 years, Charles Neely, her cherished sister, Myra Arnouville, and her loving parents. Together, Ione and Charles created a life filled with laughter and adventure, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the warmth of their shared memories.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Lisa Milligan, and her husband, Todd, who were a constant source of joy and support in her life. Ione's legacy of love continues through her granddaughters, Brittany Busurelo and her husband Adam, and Ashleigh Regard and her husband Ross, as well as her treasured great-grandchild, Nolan Busurelo and her soon to be great-grandchild, River Regard, who hasn’t been born yet - she knew about him and was excited for him, he’ll be delivered in September, who brought her boundless happiness and pride. She is also survived by her dear sister, Peggy Gallagher, and her husband Danny, as well as her brother-n-law, Earl Arnouville, along with a host of nieces and nephews who will forever hold her memory dear.
Ione's true calling, however, was her family, with whom she cherished every moment. Her great-grandchildren provided her with endless joy, and she was never happier than when surrounded by her loved ones, sharing stories and laughter.
A devoted member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Ione's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She found strength and solace in her faith community, and her unwavering devotion was a guiding light to all who knew her.
Ione also possessed a passion for life's simple pleasures. Whether indulging in a shopping trip or planning her next adventure to Gatlinburg, her zest for life was contagious. She found beauty in every moment and inspired those around her to do the same.
Following the wishes of Ione, there will be a private service celebrating her life.
Ione Donovan Neely's gentle spirit and generous heart will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and compassion will live on through the countless lives she touched. May she rest in peace, embraced by the love she so freely gave.
