Fred Louis Mizell Sr
December 12, 1953-November 3, 2023
Fred Louis Mizell Sr, age 69, a lifelong resident of Bogalusa, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2023, in his daughter and son-in-law's home surrounded by his loved ones. He was a 1972 Bogalusa High School graduate who went on to join the Louisiana National Guard. He also was a papermaker at the Bogalusa Paper Mill and later transferred to the supply room where he eventually retired. Fred loved reading especially western books and was very proud of his “home library.” Fred also loved to fish and spent many hours on the river taking his family and friends camping.
Fred was preceded in death by his beloved wife Margaret Parker Mizell. Their union left behind 3 children and 4 grandchildren: Fred Louis Mizell Jr (Taffenie) their son Van, Shannon Mizell Steinmetz (Benjamin) their son (Garet), and Sarah Mizell DeCarlo (Stephen) their sons Parker and Aiden.
Fred was also preceded in death by his parent Millfred Mizell and Mildred Mizell and sister Janet Fuller. He also leaves behind 2 siblings and a brother-in-law: Robert “Bobby” Mizell (Ginger), Brenda Armour (Bill), and Michael “Mike” Fuller. Plus, many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at The Mizell Cemetery to honor Fred’s life on Saturday November 25, 2023, at 1:00 PM with Pastor Chris Wheeler officiating the services. Friends and family are invited to attend.
