Lydia Elizabeth “Liz” Jones Mitchell
Liz was born on August 14, 1940. She went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 15, 2024, at her home in Bogalusa, Louisiana. She was a hairstylist for many years. She loved her family and friends dearly. Her favorite thing to do was work in her flower beds.
Liz was the daughter of Warren Willis and Corine McClendon Jones. She was the sister of Alton Warren, Frank Harrison, and Ancel Ellis Jones.
She was married to Ned Thomas “Tom” Mitchell of Bogalusa for 36 years. They formerly owned and operated the original Country Super Store.
Liz is survived by her daughters; Donna Sue Warner (Duel) Jenkins of Bogalusa, Sheryl “Sam” Ann Mitchell Waldrop of Birmingham, AL, and son Christopher Thomas (Becky) Mitchell of Bogalusa. She has another daughter, Sheila Mitchell Coleman, that resides in Charleston, SC. She has a son-in-law Roger Noel of Abita Springs, LA.
Liz was blessed with several grandchildren: Felicia Coleman (Joey) Von Dohlen, Elizabeth Miller (Brent) Ricker, Justin Michael (Cortney) Mixon, Zachary Christopher Miller, Bradley Mitchell, Emily Mitchell (Reid) Pounds, Hailey Mitchell (Erick) Flores, Ryan Edward Waldrop, Mason Dean Martin Mitchell, and Londen Mitchell. She had many great grandchildren as well; Skylar and Wilkins Von Dohlen, Ashlyn Ricker (Jonah) Brown, Gracey, Zachary, Elijah, Maylei, Brently, and Brenlyn Ricker, Damian and Marian Mixon, Nathaniel, Christian, and Tristian Miller, Amelia Williams, Amberle Pounds, and Jett Jones.
Liz had many friends including a dear life-long friend Mary Lee McKenzie, and two very special friends; Gary and Beverly Hall.
She was preceded in death by; her parents Warren and Corine Jones, her husband Ned Thomas (Tom) Mitchell, brothers Alton, Frank, and Ancel Jones, daughter Sharon Mitchell Noel and niece Teresa Ann Jones Blair.
Pallbearers are Justin Mixon, Bradley Mitchell, Ryan Waldrop, Jonah Brown, Eli Ricker, and Damian Mixon.
Honorary Pallbearers are Brad and Steven Jones.
Brown-McGehee Funeral Home is in charge of final arrangements.
