Mr. Coy Angus Sharp's Obituary
Coy Angus Sharp, 88, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2023 surrounded by family.
He was born on April 4, 1935 to the late Archie Angus Sharp and Bessie Folks Sharp of
Bush, LA.
Coy served in the US Navy from July 1952 to March 1956 and was a proud Machinist Mate
aboard the USS Stickell during the Korean War. He earned several prestigious medals for
his service, including the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United
Nations Medal, and China Service Medal.
After his military service, Coy pursued a career as a Welder and Machinist. He worked diligently
until the age of 62, when he retired to a peaceful farm life where his days were spent taking care
of his farm animals and square dancing. Coy was known for his dedication and skill in his
profession.
Coy is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Mary Heiser Sharp, his three children Barbara
Sharp, Debbie Sharp (Kim), Glenn Sharp (Rhonda) and his two stepchildren Ronald Campbell
(Shirlene) and James Campbell. Coy is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Samuel
Sharp, Tyler Sharp, Kaitlyn Birkhoff, Rhonda Sharp, Shondell Fernandez, Melissa Greenwald,
Shawnta Williams, and Donovan Campbell, as well as 6 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Archie Sharp, mother Bessie Sharp,
brother Alex Sharp, sister Frances Spell, and several half siblings.
Gravesite services will be held at Sharp Cemetery in Bush, LA on Sunday, December 17th
at 1:00pm.
Coy Angus Sharp will always be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his country,
and his deep love for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
