Mr. C.J. Brooks' Obituary
C.J. Brooks, age 97, died on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Timeless Grace in Carriere, MS. He was a lifelong resident of Bogalusa, LA, and a member of Westside Emmanuel Baptist Church.
C.J. was born to the late Chester and Zellie Brooks on December 19, 1927. He was a graduate of Bogalusa High School, where he also played football. Upon graduation, he was employed at the local box factory, where he worked for 40 years until his retirement. C.J. was also a member of the Louisiana National Guard for 6 years. He loved carpentry, yard work, and LSU football.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the entire staff at Timeless Grace, who selflessly cared for C.J. to ensure he had as much quality time as God would allow.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Cheryl and Rodney Wascom and Penny and Jeffery Terrell, all of Bogalusa; one brother: Jack Brooks of Zachary, LA; two sisters-in-law: Marie Alford of Covington, LA, and Elizabeth (Ralph) Richardson of Wiggins, MS; a host of grandchildren: Chad (Joanna) Wascom, Jerod (Ashley) Wascom, Brooke (Jason) Cummings, Joshua Terrell, Kayla Terrell, and Matthew Terrell; and twelve great-grandchildren: Carli Wascom, Carter Wascom, Isaac Wascom, Hali Wascom, Micah Wascom, Claire Wascom, Ava Cummings, Bella Cummings, Cannon Cummings, Cambrie Cummings, Jathan Davis, and Skylar Oxner.
C.J. was preceded in death by his wife: Rosemary Giacone Brooks; and his parents: Chester and Zellie Brooks.
