A.. G. Nobles' Obituary
A.G. Nobles, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012.
Though born April 17, 1931 in Varnado, he was a lifelong resident of Bogalusa, and worked at the paper mill from 1953 until he retired in 1996.
A.G. was the oldest member of Terrace Missionary Baptist Church, where he worshiped for 64 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, who was cherished and was loved by all.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Edna Slocum Nobles; two sons and daughters-in-law, Arthur G. Nobles Jr. and Yvonne, and Greg Nobles and Suzanne, all of Bogalusa; four daughters and sons-in-law, Dinah and Dale Pisciotta of Pineville, and Lydia and Ronnie Crain, Anita Jo and Mike Davis and Tina and Chris Slaughter, all of Bogalusa; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Larry Nobles of Baton Rouge and Hillman and Lucille Thomas Jr. of Carson Springs, Miss.; a brother-in-law, Elton Miley of Pine; four sisters, Delores Williams and Demoreece Hollingsworth, both of Bogalusa, Christine Seal of Walker and Shirley McKenzie of Tylertown, Miss.; 14 grandchildren, Kerry and Myra Nobles, Terry and Jennifer Nobles, Cody and Ashley Nobles, Amanda Crain, Matthew and Amy Crain, Felicia and Chris Workman, Haley Nobles, Stacey Seal, Leah and Michael Rister, Rebecca and Jonathan Whatley, Kristina and Lee Deering, Brian Slaughter, Amy Passman and Mike Davis; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a special friend and cousin, Faye Lott and family.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, T.C. Nobles and Bertha Nobles Thomas; a stepfather, Hillman Thomas; three sisters, Mary Louise Ingram, Joyce Miley and Fanny Gerald; one infant brother; a special niece, Shelia Cameron; and a special friend and cousin, Robert T. Lott.
Wake services were held Friday, Feb. 24 at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m., and continued on Saturday from 8 a.m. until time of service at 2 p.m., with Elder Gerald Penton, Elder Billy Ray Hines, Elder Glen Erwin and Elder Lynn Martin officiating. Burial followed at Miley Cemetery in Pine.
